Zellers Family Restaurant – Sundridge Mall

We got up early and we drove to Sunridge Mall just go to go to the Zellers diner which I was told it was the last one in the city that was opened now. When I was young, my mom use to take me to the exact same location for breakfast – so it was neat going back to the original diner I tried years ago. We actually got there right when they take the breakfast menu away, so I ordered Z’s Mile High burger with fries.

The burger was made of juicy beef burger topped with bacon, cheddar and swiss cheese, bbq sauce, onion right, with veggies. The burger was really tasty as the patty was actually really juicy – slathered with BBQ sauce. Then, as you can see in the picture, the burger was topped with a mile high of the condiments and the difference of texture of the onion right has taken this burger over the top! I love eating burgers and this one is one of the better ones. Too bad eventually this restaurant will be closing. On a happier note, my husband ordered a plate of Breaded Pork Cutlet which he enjoyed thoroughly!

This plate of food was a pork cutlet crusted with savoury schnitzel breading, with a side of mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The pork cutlet breading was packed with tons of flavour, and even though it was a thin piece of pork, it wasn’t dry at all! It was quite enjoyable! Then, there is nothing I love more than mashed potatoes and gravy – so that was a plus on the plate. The mixed vegetables was cooked until the life was taken from the vegetables, as the didn’t even hold their shape anymore and the colours was completely pale. It was the only thing left on both of our plates at the end of our meal! Not bad!

Phil & Sebastian Coffee Company – Chinook Centre

So, we got up early this year for the Chinook Centre Stampede Breakfast as it was the centennial, and we knew it would be packed! We were right, it was packed – so we lined up and got our breakfast. Afterwards, we wanted a little more, so we popped into Phil and Sebastian that was located inside the mall. It was nice they were opened so early, and I enjoyed a fantastic cup of Hot Chocolate!

It was really nice that the barista did some foam art on the hot chocolate, as they don’t seem to do foam art on hot chocolate – but I was really excited about it! The chocolate was rich and decadent, and it was delicious! Thinking that only lattes get foam art, we ordered a latte as well! Both look fantastic, as you can see!

I find myself only going to Phil and Sebastian only for special occasions, but now I realize that the prices is quite reasonable – it is still a little pricer, but the extra care they take in making your drink to perfection, and the look with the foam art really comes out in the wash! I love a pretty drink, and it never seems to fail here!

The London Tea Company – Green Tea Tropical

I’ve never heard of LT Company prior to now. My sister brought some tea back from London during her visit home, and brought back 3 canisters of London Teas. These teas are quite different, as they’re not like “herbal teas”, it’s more like flavourful hot water – which is great for me, since I need to drink more water!

I really like the canisters, as its not only looks really neat, it’s got a cool top, keeping the tea leaves fresh.

After you steep the tea, the tea bag is really good for making another cup or two! Also, you can just put one tea bag for a tea pot! It’s a great product as a single tea bag lasts for a long time! This Green Tea Tropical scent/flavour is really subtle, which is quite nice!

Nescafe Instant Coffee – 1+2 Instant Coffee with Creamer & Sugar

I’ve been exhausted lately, and I don’t normally drink coffee… but, I’ve been wanting coffee – so I’ve tried instant coffee. I picked up a pack of Nescafe‘s instant coffee with sugar and cream in one package.

This instant coffee is really convenient, since to prepare this, you just need to add boiling water, mix and enjoy. It doesn’t make a lot of coffee, which is perfect for me. It is full of coffee flavour, with a nice amount of creamer and sugar. I usually finish the entire cup!

I think a pack of this would be GREAT for traveling, or anything like that. It’s much easier to make a pot of boiling water than to carry some coffee powder, creamer and sugar. A box also has many packages, which comes in little perfectly portioned out packages, making this really portable.

Homemade Vietnamese Coffee

I love eating Vietnamese cuisine, and one of my favourite drinks that is special and unique would be Vietnamese Coffee, which I found out it wasn’t hard to make at all!

Ingredients
1 to 2 tbsp condensed milk
1 or 1.5 tsp ground coffee (courser grind works best)
boiling water

First, I put the condensed milk in the bottom of my cup. I love my coffee’s sweet when I drink coffee.

Then, I place the coffee grinds into the little contraction which is the French Filter (cà phê phin) – which is the coffee filter. It’s nice to use dark roast to get the strong flavour and the course so it doesn’t fall through the filter. Put the top on the filter and screw it tight. The tighter you screw the top on, the darker and stronger the coffee will be. This will take a longer time for your coffee to brew. Alternatively, you don’t have to tighten it to the max where the coffee won’t be as dark, and you’ll get your drink faster too! It’s up to you! The coffee they typically use is the brand Trung Nguyen

When the coffee has finished dripping through the filter, you’re ready to stir it up to dissolve the condensed milk and enjoy. If you like an iced version (ca phe da), fill a glass full of ice and enjoy!
