Mucho Burrito – Calgary, Alberta

I set foot in a Mucho Burrito for the first time today (Cinco de Mayo), and they conveniently had a special going on for a medium burrito for $5!! So, I tried the Medio – 12″ Pan Seared Tilapia on white tortilla.

Of course, in competition, my other half had a Mucho XL Burrito Barbacoa – Marinated beef, slow cooked and shredded on white tortilla.

Bubblemania Cafe – Calgary, Alberta

Bubblemania is a place where I have been going to for many years now. They offer decent wings for a decent price. A new thing that is very handy, Bubblemania Cafe now accepts Visa & Mastercard! Before, they only took cash. Wing nights are now Mon to Thurs 2-7pm 28¢ Wings!

My favorite drink is either the pineapple or lychee green tea – COLD, with nothing in it. I’m actually not a fan of the “bubble” or the tapioca, as I tend to choke on it. Their drinks are quite good, but I must say — I think most of them are made from powder also! I’m a much greater fan of fresh fruit smoothies, but I risk the fruit not being in season.

We love ordering snacks from here, as they have amazing wings, they also have a ton of snacks and almost meal like food. We really haent’ tried anything that we didn’t like, we even enjoyed their Calamari!

Sun’s BBQ Restaurant – Calgary, Alberta

Chinese food at it’s best! I like going here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all meals in between! For this particular instance, we went almost as a midnight snack, as we picked up people from the airport on a late flight. Their food is a little greasy, but it makes it look pretty and it tastes good too. It’s not overwhelmed by grease.

There is a wide array of options on the menu, so I’m sure you’ll find something for any appetite. I personally really love the shanghai noodles, but that’s just me and Chinese food. They do an excellent job at making it — but it’s a dish that is relatively simple.

Dinner at Sun Chiu Kee is really good, be sure to check out the dinner review too!

Rice For King – Calgary, Alberta

Everyone loves a nice bowl of Vietnamese Noodle Soup! I work on Macleod Trail in the South, and it was to my excitement everyone there loves to go to Rice For King. I liked it there so much, I’ve been back even outside of work hours! Rice For King offers an extensive selection on their menu, and they are very accommodating to their customers request.

I love the Beef Ball Noodle soup, I think it’s one that is hard to goof up on. My husband usually takes the rare beef Pho, and we both enjoyed our soups. The broth was nice and flavorful, even without putting extras in the soup.

I’ve never tried their salad rolls, but all my co-workers rave about them! They say it’s definitively better than going to Co-op a few doors down!! So, that means I will be back to try more items on their menu.

I love the way this restaurant takes their branding so seriously, and everything has it’s custom “K” on it.  I use to think only restaurants who were about to take pictures of it would do that, but Rice For King does it for every dish!

I was just there a few days ago as well, and I got the Bun – Rice Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls. I don’t have a picture of it, but I dcan assure you, it was large, and plated really nicely, and it also tasted good. The Fish Sauce that they use is really quite flavorful! I love how they use square plates, its a little different but they try to incorporate their logo onto everything they present to their customers.

O Bistro – Canmore, Alberta

O Bistro is a wonderful little place we stumbled upon in downtown Canmore. The service was great, and the food was even better.

The atmosphere was really nice, and after sitting down, and receiving our drinks, came bread and butter.

We did munch on some, but it was just bread and butter. We did order a wonderful appetizer – the Seafood Trio with sautéed Prawns Provenìale, seared sea Scallop with honey-braised leeks, steamed Alaskan Crab claws topped with garlic butter. It looked great and tasted even better!! The seafood was surprisingly fresh, and I wouldn’t complain for a second!

For the main course, I ordered the Ginger Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin – served with potatoes, market grilled vegetables. The pork was really tender, and the flavour of the ginger maple glaze was perfect. It wasn’t too spicy for the ginger, nor was it too sweet from the maple. It was in perfect balance.

we also ordered the ‘O’ Beef Wellington – seared Alberta AAA beef tenderloin, served on a flaky puff pastry
topped with homemade duck pâté & sautéed mushrooms, served with potatoes, market grilled vegetables & Bordelaise sauce. This dish just looked and tasted amazing!!

And for dessert, as mentioned, we ordered the special of the day which was a Bailey’s Creme Brulee… which I have no words to describe, besides a big puddle of drool thinking about it! It was the most memorable part of the evening and the presentation is was spectacular!

One of the best things about O Bistro is the fact it is a sister restaurant to Chez Francois, which is another favorite of mine! Please, do go try them both — as they offer a very different style of cuisine, and the food is just wonderful. I wouldn’t say the price is much more than other place in Canmore!
