O Bistro – Canmore, Alberta

O Bistro is a wonderful little place we stumbled upon in downtown Canmore. The service was great, and the food was even better.

The atmosphere was really nice, and after sitting down, and receiving our drinks, came bread and butter.

We did munch on some, but it was just bread and butter. We did order a wonderful appetizer – the Seafood Trio with sautéed Prawns Provenìale, seared sea Scallop with honey-braised leeks, steamed Alaskan Crab claws topped with garlic butter. It looked great and tasted even better!! The seafood was surprisingly fresh, and I wouldn’t complain for a second!

For the main course, I ordered the Ginger Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin – served with potatoes, market grilled vegetables. The pork was really tender, and the flavour of the ginger maple glaze was perfect. It wasn’t too spicy for the ginger, nor was it too sweet from the maple. It was in perfect balance.

we also ordered the ‘O’ Beef Wellington – seared Alberta AAA beef tenderloin, served on a flaky puff pastry
topped with homemade duck pâté & sautéed mushrooms, served with potatoes, market grilled vegetables & Bordelaise sauce. This dish just looked and tasted amazing!!

And for dessert, as mentioned, we ordered the special of the day which was a Bailey’s Creme Brulee… which I have no words to describe, besides a big puddle of drool thinking about it! It was the most memorable part of the evening and the presentation is was spectacular!

One of the best things about O Bistro is the fact it is a sister restaurant to Chez Francois, which is another favorite of mine! Please, do go try them both — as they offer a very different style of cuisine, and the food is just wonderful. I wouldn’t say the price is much more than other place in Canmore!

IKEA Restaurant – Calgary, Alberta

This morning, we went to IKEA, we needed to pick some stuff up from IKEA, and made a morning out of it! 🙂 Of course, we started by arriving 10ish, just in time for breakfast!! Breakfast at IKEA has always been affordable, and it’s not bad for what you’re getting, and the amount you’re receiving!

We of course have the $1 breakfast meal, and add things to it!! The breakfast includes Scrambled eggs, sausages, and home fries. The eggs are always a little funny, but it’s pretty good with the remedy for all weird food — ketchup! I must say, I really enjoy the home fries (potato chucks), and for me, instead of ketchup, I like the maple syrup that goes with pancakes! I know, it’s sounds funny… but, my husband likes it with Ranch dressing… so, you decide who is weirder!

Today, my addition thing that I had with my $1 breakfast was Organic crepes stuffed with spinach and cheese. It looked a little funny, but it tasted good. My husband had Bacon and French Toast.

The French toast was interesting… it was dense, but it made up for it as it was a Cinnamon Toast! 🙂 If you’re going for Breakfast, be sure to be there before 11AM!

Tang Toasted Subs & Grill – Calgary, Alberta

This morning, I woke up really wanting a good Vietnamese submarine. I didn’t want to go all the way to my favorite place in Chinatown, so I decided to give Tang Toasted Subs & Grill a try.

It wasn’t as I hoped for… as my expectations were really high — however, the sub was flavorful with it’s sauce from the chicken. I had the Satay Chicken, and my husband had the Mega Sub (Sate Chicken and Beef). I think the actual sub bun wasn’t as fresh or something. Usually when you toast bread, it’s got a distinctive taste and smell, which these subs seems to be lacking. The carrots weren’t actually pickled, or it was just really lightly done… or the carrot sticks were too large. You couldn’t taste the “pickled” part of it, which usually adds to the taste of a Vietnamese Sub.

We did see a lot of their customers eating the rice bowls, which really was just vermicelli bowls, and they looked like they were enjoying themselves! I guess if I was in that area, I would go in to give it a try too! 🙂

Regardless, it’s a great place for a quick cure! And, a place I will return to try other selections which I didn’t get to this time.

We were going to get drinks, as both of us love bubble tea — however, they do not use fresh fruits, as you can see the powders they use. Neither of us are fans of powder bubble tea, so we opted out this time. They called these drinks smoothies at Tang.

Fatty’s Chinese Fast Food – Honolulu, Hawaii

It’s a neat little place where you go up to the kitchen and sit there…. tell the chef yourself what you want – and watch them cook your food.

The food is well worth the value, and it taste good!! It’s not over rated, it’s not fine dining, but an excellent place to have a quick bite without going to fast food.

The location is pretty good also! Right on the side of the International Market! My family and I’ve been going there since I was little, and now I bring my husband there!! it’s been around for ever, and we’ve been going there forever!! I see no reason to stop!! 🙂

Roy’s Waikiki Beach – Honolulu, Hawaii

We were on our honeymoon and we’ve always wanted to eat here — especially after watching “At the table with…” on the food network.

We made ourselves a nice reservation, and we were so happy we did. The environment was amazing, our server was knowledgeable and helpful, and best of all… the food was wonderful!!! It really made the dinner experience come together.

You must try Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé: Raspberry Coulis, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, since it was magical!!! The food was cooked to perfection as everything else was!!
