Second Cup – Maple Tea

Tea’s have been becoming more and more popular, and special flavours that are offered year round is no exception. Now that spring is here, Second Cup has put out a neat new Maple Tea made with Rooibos tea with the delicious aroma of warm maple syrup.

This option is Caffeine-free and Rainforest Alliance Certified™, so not only does it taste good, it’s kind of good for the environment too! The colour that infused out of the Maple Tea Bag is really quite pretty, and the scent definitely smells like maple. It’s delicious as is or with a tad of honey!

Be sure to try the Second Cup’s Maple Latte if you’re looking for a fantastic latte with sweet maple flavours!

Second Cup – Honey Vanilla Tea Latte

I recently stopped into my favourite Second Cup and they had a new seasonal drink called Honey Vanilla Tea Latte. I really love this drink as I do like the taste of vanilla in my coffees or teas! This Honey Vanilla Tea Latte was made with English Breakfast tea steeped with vanilla and honey and finished with creamy microfoam.

The picture doesn’t do it’s justice, but it was quite a delicate drink! It was similar to their London Fog Tea, but better!! I think it is the honey that really elevates this drink to a whole new level! I sometimes find the regular London Fog just lacks a bit of flavour – which is probably why I really like the Christmas Holiday London Fog Latte too!

City Hollywood Cafe – Toronto, Ontario

We took a red-eye flight out to Toronto for a quick trip. When we got there, we quickly picked up our rental can and checked into our hotel room. From there, we took a quick hot shower and went out looking for breakfast as it was only about 9am. We found a place where my cousin took us to a few years back called City Hollywood Cafe located behind Pacific Mall – 太古 on Steeles and Kennedy in Markham, Ontario.

We sat down, and I quickly ordered a cup of Milk Tea – 奶茶 as I was craving a cup – with condensed milk. It was quite strong of a tea and that’s the way I like it. When I got home, I actually made my own version of milk tea, and it’s just as good!

Since I was a tad jet lagged and really sleepy as we didn’t really get sleep from the night before, I opted out for something smaller. I ordered the French Toast – 西多士 I really like Chinese/Hong Kong style French Toast because they usually use Chinese “square bread” which usually is sweeter than your typical sliced bread. The egg batter is always thick and delicious – and the sheer amount of oil they use to make their French toast makes for a crispy breakfast

The breakfast set meals are always fun to order. They normally come with tons of stuff at a really good price – at only $4.99! This meal was also ordered with milk tea, and the set meal was for Cutlet Pork Chop with Egg. This particular meal came with toast, eggs, and of course a deep fried pork cutlet ontop of macaroni’s in soup.

Overall, I really enjoyed the few times I’ve been to City Hollywood Cafe and I’m sure I’ll be back again for any meal during the day! The food has always been really good, and nothing beats their prices and hours.

Cafe Churchill – London, England

It was a cold, rainy London morning in September when we decided to take a walk through the touristy area. When we got towards Westminster Abbey, I realized how hungry I was — and there wasn’t much food options nearby. So, we walked towards the Parliament buildings, we found Cafe Churchill where we quickly popped inside to dry up and fill up on our bellies.

This location was really cute, with little table outside – which I can’t see anyone utilizing in the rain, but probably perfect for the nice days without the rain! Once we walked into the cafe, we saw this pastry display where I got excited! I love pastries!

We both sat down and asked for some English Tea and I wanted mine with lemon. It was so nice to have and anything hot like teas really warmed me up from the inside out! I know it’s just a normal tea, but it was just great timing for this tea.

From entering the cafe, one of the first things I saw was croissants and I noticed a Giant Almond Croissant so I knew that was something I would need to order. The croissant was nice and fresh, crispy layers, subtle sweetness from the powdered sugar, and the sliced almonds made a for a delicious treat!

I thought a croissant for the 2 of us wouldn’t be enough, so we also ordered a Ciabatta Salmone which is a great sandwich of smoked salmon, cream cheese and lettuce on a ciabatta bun. This was a little disappointing compared to the giant almond croissant. This only had 2 thin slices of smoked salmon, and there wasn’t much cream cheese or even lettuce either! The bread was really good as I believe it was fresh. None the less, I ate it up and continued on my journey.

Overall, it was a great experience, and it definitely gave you a small town feel in this cafe! If I’m there, I’d definitely stop by for an almond croissant again though!

Planet Dailies at Planet Hollywood – Las Vegas, Nevada

It was American Thanksgiving when we came to Planet Dailies inside Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas strip. We were originally going to eat at the Spice Market at Planet Hollywood, but they were doing a special “Thanksgiving Dinner” buffet for lunch, which we didn’t want to eat that much – so we settled down here instead.

I ordered a Patty Melt which is a sandwich with marble rye bread filled with an Angus beef patty, sauteed onions and melted Swiss cheese. Of course, I got this with fries, which was nice and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Also, it was served with Thousand Island dressing on the side – which I thought was a little odd, but the tangy taste of the dressing actually was quite refreshing with the sandwich!

As it was Thanksgiving, we ordered a Thanksgiving Lunch Special with slices of Turkey, some fresh vegetables, and mashed potatoes with gravy. It’s kind of your typical Thanksgiving lunch, but it was good! The turkey wasn’t dry at all, and the vegetables was fresh and crispy!

Then, we ordered a pasta dish, and had the Chicken Primavera with tons of tender chicken sauteed with shallots and garlic, tossed with broccoli, yellow squash, zucchini, asparagus, tomato and gemelli pasta. This pasta dish was light enough to be a pasta salad, and it was refreshing!

Planet Dailies at Planet Hollywood was a great place we popped into! It worked out better actually, and the food is great! Our waitress was super cute and so happy that she could make anyone smile – no matter how bad of a day! The food was excellent, service was great and prices was reasonable too!
