Asteroid Cater – Rosedale, Alberta

It’s been awhile, but this is quite the year so far! I’ve been trying to find random places to stop and eat at, and Drumheller area was where the weekend cruise lead me to. Although this wasn’t the place I wanted to stop at, it was a fantastic and funny place for a quite burger and fries here at Asteroids just South of Drumheller in Rosedale!

I stopped here for a Pluto Bacon Cheeseburger thinking a Juno burger would be too small for me. These burgers are massive and they make it fresh to order so it does take a few minutes. I wished they had milkshakes here but it was unnecessary!

With the burger, thinking the fries would be like a fast food fry amount, their Large Fries come in a huge bowl! It was massive and crazy but the fries did taste great!

I told some old co-workers about this cruise and he asked me if I’ve tried Diana in Drumheller. I said I’ve been past it a million times, and stopped in once but I wasn’t feel great. So now I know more history about this, I’ll have to plan a return trip!

Zip’s Drive In – Spokane Valley, Washington

It’s not a strange thing for us to pull over and eat something amazing, and this time we stopped at Zip’s, which is a local drive-in chain offering delicious and massive burgers!

We weren’t here for a long time, but I opted for a pretty big and AMAZING burger, with my favourite, a Strawberry Milkshake that was rich and thick and creamy – just the way I know them to be. My burger was Belly Buster Burger, with bacon, ham, beef patty and some veg. It was amazing and very filling!!

Overall, it was a very retro space, and the place felt greasy. I felt greasy after the food, but I ate it all and pretty much passed out when we got to the hotel to call it a night!

Tino’s Drive-In – Medicine Hat, Alberta

I “kind of” grew up in Medicine Hat, as we used to have a family restaurant there, and much more. I never needed to eat out except for breakfast as my grandma loved eating pancakes with half a bottle of syrup. She always got yelled at so these breakfasts were special treats. I’ve always heard of Tino’s but never went there as it never made sense for me to spend money on other peoples hamburgers and fries. A co-worker of mine convinced me to go and I made the special trip there JUST for that.

I knew I needed to try their Chili Chips as it’s a tangy chili on top of delicious and crispy fries. These fries are outstanding as they hold up to the chili sauce. It doesn’t get soggy or anything even at the end. The tang from the vinegar really helps cut the “grease” taste and feel so this was a perfect side!

I ordered their more plain burger, their Cheeseburger as everyone knows I like a good cheeseburger. Sure, it looks a tad plain, but it’s definitely a tasty burger! You don’t need to do anything fancy with a good classic burger.

Then, to the other extreme, we ordered a King Mushroom Burger
and this burger was intense! It had 4 patties on it, and it was a beautiful mess that was meaty and hearty. We knew after this snack, and the drive back home we wouldn’t need dinner!

This place was amazing! It was raining and there was a constant line of cars coming through the drive-in. It was a great sight and it’s no wonder it’s been so many years and they’re still standing! They have amazing milkshakes as well, and my go to milkshake is the strawberry milkshake as I use to make my own at the restaurant. Here, they make it just my style and I loved that it brought back a bit of my childhood.
