French Market – Orleans

My parents really like to go to Las Vegas, and I do follow them a few times when they go. They seem to really like the more “economical” priced places to eat – probably because how often they go. I found myself a little off the strip on Tropicana Avenue at The Orleans hotel, walking into a buffet called French Market.

The buffet is actually huge as there are many “stations” from different parts of the world. I did find that the buffet selection remains more or less the same through the days of the week. The stations feature Italian, Mongolian, Barbecue, American, Seafood, Mexican and Chinese cooking, as well as an oversized dessert bar!

I’ve got to say, I really enjoyed the selection. Even though there’s no way I could try a little of everything, I did get a huge plate of food, soup and dessert!

Overall, it’s a fabulous place to enjoy lots of food – and quite a large selection. The price as mentioned was really reasonable, and I believe my parents had a “B-Connected” loyalty card which gave them a discount as they qualified for “Young at Heart” coupons. Even without coupons, I was really happy with the price I paid!

Planet Dailies at Planet Hollywood – Las Vegas, Nevada

It was American Thanksgiving when we came to Planet Dailies inside Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas strip. We were originally going to eat at the Spice Market at Planet Hollywood, but they were doing a special “Thanksgiving Dinner” buffet for lunch, which we didn’t want to eat that much – so we settled down here instead.

I ordered a Patty Melt which is a sandwich with marble rye bread filled with an Angus beef patty, sauteed onions and melted Swiss cheese. Of course, I got this with fries, which was nice and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Also, it was served with Thousand Island dressing on the side – which I thought was a little odd, but the tangy taste of the dressing actually was quite refreshing with the sandwich!

As it was Thanksgiving, we ordered a Thanksgiving Lunch Special with slices of Turkey, some fresh vegetables, and mashed potatoes with gravy. It’s kind of your typical Thanksgiving lunch, but it was good! The turkey wasn’t dry at all, and the vegetables was fresh and crispy!

Then, we ordered a pasta dish, and had the Chicken Primavera with tons of tender chicken sauteed with shallots and garlic, tossed with broccoli, yellow squash, zucchini, asparagus, tomato and gemelli pasta. This pasta dish was light enough to be a pasta salad, and it was refreshing!

Planet Dailies at Planet Hollywood was a great place we popped into! It worked out better actually, and the food is great! Our waitress was super cute and so happy that she could make anyone smile – no matter how bad of a day! The food was excellent, service was great and prices was reasonable too!

Asian BBQ & Noodles in Spring Valley Las Vegas

So, the last time I went to Vegas, we had a combination of food from tourist locations and local. We went for some Chinese cuisine in areas where locals are more likely to go. We went to Asian BBQ & Noodles located in a strip plaza, which really wasn’t too far off the strip, but definitely easiest with a rental car. This stop was more like a second lunch, or a snack so the 3 of us only ordered a few things to share.

We enjoyed a plate of Yang Chow Fried Rice, and in fact it was a fairly large plate, especially for it’s price. I don’t currently remember any of the prices, but I know they are very reasonable with large delicious portions. It definitely was enough to share everything! The fried rice had lots of ingredients in it, and seasoned perfectly! it’s so easy to eat the entire plate by myself because it was so good!

A bowl of Wonton Noodle Soup was something that really hit the spot! There’s nothing as calming for me than a bowl of noodle soup – especially when the soup is “clear” versus soup with lots of things in the soup or very flavourful (spicy, coconut milk, etc). The wontons here were enormous!

And has some Gai Lan with Oyster Sauce, as we needed some vegetables. Sure, the gai lan looks a little big, but they cooked it just long enough where it’s still crisp, but tender! Good job for them with the boiling of it! 🙂 It was just the perfect plate of veggies for this snack!

Overall, I do enjoy this location! It was actually busy – even at these odd times of day where it wasn’t lunch or dinner. People were coming in and ordering from the hot buffet section and their phones was ringing off the hook for take-out! It’s nice to see such success for little restaurants like this!

Everything tasted really good and the prices were extremely well priced! This is definitely a place to try if you’re craving a little local Chinese food that is worth your pocket change!

Wolfgang Puck – Spago Las Vegas

We were walking up and down the Las Vegas strip until dark. It was werid, for a city that never sleeps, we actually missed dinner – so we popped into Spago’s inside Caesars Palace. Since we missed dinner, they just gave us the a la carte menu, which was great – since a dinner would of been too much food at this late hour! We were seated quickly, and some bread with a variety of bread oils came – and they were quite delicious!

For dinner, I ordered from their wood fire pizza menu selection – from my seat, I could see the wood fire pit for pizza’s and thought it would be fun to watch them make my pizza. So, ordered the Pepperoni Pizza which was quite a large pizza for a single serving with fontina and mozzarella Cheese, Tomato Sauce, Shaved Red Onions and Button Mushrooms

We also went and ordered the Spago Pancetta-Wrapped Meatloaf which was a beautiful plate with Russet Potato Purée on the bottom, where the piece of pancetta wrapped meatloaf sat on. On top of the meatloaf sat some crispy Onion Rings. Then they had Mushroom Gravy and Port Wine Sauce drizzled over the entire dish. It was a wonderful dish!

This has become an amazing and memorable place for a night light snack – with the quality you’d expect! Everything was really good, and I’d have no problems popping in for another meal (or snack)!

MGM Grand Buffet

We don’t normally eat at buffets, but we did on this occasion, as the room I booked came with complimentary buffet. I stayed at the MGM Grand Resort & Casino which was a wonderful place to stay.

MGM Grand Buffet Entrance

The buffet was delicious, and there was a lot of food options. It was quite the Grand Buffet as you’ll definitely find something for everyone! They have from regular breakfast/lunch foods like potatoes, eggs, sausages, to much more exotic brunch items like sushi. Even the selection at the salad bar was massive, and the ingredients were fresh. They employees at the Grand Buffet keep the items stocked and that’s a great thing to see – as I’ve been to a few buffets that don’t refill to control their supplies and not meeting demands.

MGM Grand Buffet

One of my favourite stations from this buffet was the Smoked Salmon, they had two pieces of really nice salmon, and I’m sure I ate enough they would’ve frowned at me if they knew it was going into my belly – solely! I did try some of their sushi, and it wasn’t anything special, but I think it’s a special item for breakfast! This buffet is definitely trying to cater to as many ethnics and cuisines as possible!

MGM Grand Buffet - Sushi

To further enhance what I’m talking about regarding selection, even the selection of loaves was massive! There is really something for everyone, and it’s kind of too bad this was found at the back – because I really stuffed myself before I found the bakery selection!

MGM Grand Buffet - Pastries

I really enjoy desserts, and the dessert bar at this buffet is actually quite massive for a morning buffet. I’ve previously been to a buffet in Vegas last year and they actually do things like turn the ice cream machine off for the morning buffets, and everything becomes cookies, pastries, like croissants, breads and toasts and other morning goodies. At the Grand Buffet, they even have a large selection of sugar free desserts which is really pleasing to see!

MGM Grand Buffet - Dessert Bar

This is a great location and definitely a grand buffet! You can find traditional meal items to specialty items, and usually variations of all, plus everything in between! So, if you’re looking for selection, especially with the heated item selection – this could be a great option for you!
