Mine Side Diner – Canmore, Alberta

We always go by Canmore and any festive occassion in Camore – the place is packed! This time, we came for a parade and afterwards, the entire town was looking for lunch. We went to the first place we could find that didn’t have a line and that was how we ended up at the Canmore Hotel at Mine Side Diner which was more a burger and fry place than a diner!

We basically just ordered our 2 meals, ate there and left. There’s not too much going on in this place, but the food is made fresh – so it’s quite tasty!

I ordered their version of the Philly Beefsteak with fries and it was really surprisingly quite good! The meat was tender, the bread was nice – so there’s nothing bad about it at all!

I also got their BLT Burger with onion rings and it too was really good! With a perfectly melted cheese on the patty, fresh vegetables and a nice bun that holds up to the burger (and not crumbles) it was a delightful meal!

So, next time you’re in the area and just looking for a decent little place – consider Mine Side Diner! Sure, it’s not fancy or large, but it’s all you need!

Blue Star Diner – Calgary, Alberta

I found myself just looking for anything with the word “diner” in it for weekend brunches when we came across Blue Star Diner in Bridgeland. Parking can be tough if it’s super busy, but we just parked on a side street and walked over as it was a nice day. It’s smart to go put your name down and browse the shops nearby as they seem to always be busy!

It was a cool morning so when we finally got our table, I went inside and order a cup of Hot Chocolate which was fantastic! It tasted good and warmed me up from the inside out!

For breakfast, we decided we were going to try something new oddly… so we went for their Bridgeland Breakfast Sammy which was basically an awesome sandwich built on sourdough toast with bacon & eggs, cheese and some vegetables and a side of hashbrowns! It was really delicious and refreshing and something out of the ordinary that we enjoyed thoroughly!

We also ordered the Chipotle Pulled Pork Hash with tender and juicy pulled pork with a chipotle lime sauce, on a bed of onions & sweet potatoes with vegetables, and topped with 2 poached eggs. It truly was quite an amazing dish and very filling!

We really enjoyed everything here! Although the price is high for a breakfast, the food really does fill you up so it counts as a brunch or even a lunch! The service is amazing as they’re busy yet super friendly. I’m really glad we got to come by Blue Star Diner and try them out!

Cochrane Cafe – Cochrane, Alberta

We love travelling through Alberta and this time we were looking for a quick breakfast and we stopped in Cochrane – at Cochrane Cafe! This is a Chinese/Western restaurant which was a place we decided to do Western instead of Chinese! The location is pretty much on their main street with parking spots outside.

It was a brisk morning, so I decided I would have standard Hot Tea out of tea bags. They don’t have the tea from a Chinese restaurant or anything – but that as fine! It’s what makes them Western!

I was feeling like having pancakes, so I got an order of their Hot Cakes and it came out on a plate a perfectly stacked stack of pancakes! I was delighted! The pancakes were light and fluffy and they weren’t burnt or anything! They were amazing!

I then figured I’m never full without some sort of meat – so I upgraded my hot cakes to include sausages. These Sausages came on a separate plate on the side which was perfect, so it wouldn’t be swimming in my maple syrup!

My husband ordered their Steak & Eggs which was really neat! They claim it’s a 6oz (precooked) portion of steak and their hashbrowns were actually hashbrowns! The meat was cooked well and although a little tough, it was well seasoned and still delicous.

Our experience here was pretty good! The food was delicious and the prices was average. The place was clean and it’s a neat place to stop in if you’re in Cochrane!

Blackfoot Truckstop Diner – Calgary, Alberta

There’s nothing more than a good breakfast that I love more. We heard about Blackfoot Truckstop Diner and it’s all thing that I like – right in the name! So, I knew I would have to make a stop here eventually!

I ordered their daily special when I got there, their Mini Breakfast which included mini farmer sausage, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, 1 slice of toast and coffee! It was enough to fill me up as I arrived here half asleep! The food was pretty decent and it was like a truckstop more than a diner!

My husband ordered the Corned Beef Hash which they used the sliced corned beef and their hashbronws were the potato chunks! Although it tasted delicious, it wasn’t the corned beef out of a can with shredded potatoes that he loves so much. He did eat the entire plate of food up which was typical!

Just when we thought we were about to leave, something in the fridge caught my attention! It was Flapper Pie! And, if you don’t know what it is, clearly you’re not from a small town from Canada! I was excited to order a slice and have my husband try it. It wasn’t the best one, but it was neat as it was kind of a taste of history!

Overall, we did have a fun and memorable experience! The food and service was excellent, and this place is always opened as it’s 24hours! You can stop by anytime for food and it’s a clean place as well!

Eggoasis Crowfoot – Calgary, Alberta

We decided to go for breakfast at Eggoasis in Crowfoot where there was plenty of parking. The place is pretty big and before you know it – you’re waiting for a table. This place is busy, but their service isn’t that quick either – so just be prepared!

Once we got seated, I decided to order a Hot Chocolate with no whipped cream, and it came in a beautiful cup. It wasn’t as hot as I know hot chocolate to be – which meant it was cold by the time my meal got here. I guess if you asked for whipped cream, it would fill up the rest of the glass and probably insulate it better.

I didn’t know which Eggs Benedict I wanted, but I knew that was what I wanted to try. I ended up opting for their Forrester’s Eggs Benedict which was their eggs benny with mushrooms, swiss cheese and meat – where I picked sausages inside my eggs benny. It was tastier than it sounds! I asked for a soft poached egg and it came out perfect and runny! I wasn’t in love with the hollandaise sauce, but I really loved the potatoes!

My husband went for an omelette, he picked the Hunter’s Omelette which an omelette with bacon, ham and sausage and some Swiss cheese. He loved it and devoured it after he got some Tabasco sauce! It was tasty and the eggs was cooked really nicely!

Overall, it was a decent meal. It’s not the best, but also not the worse. The location was nice, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the prices was about average for a breakfast/lunch location. We enjoyed our company the most, and that was the best part of our visit!
