Tumbleweed Coffee House – Nanton, Alberta

I really love going to Nanton, Alberta to look at antiques and just exploring this little town. We decided to grab a quick java stop at Tumbleweed Coffee House right on Highway 2 (Northbound) and it’s located right next to the Chinese restaurant.

We just stopped in for a cup of Chai Tea which was very nice and perfectly spiced. It was the perfect cup of chai for a cold day!

Then, we also order a cup of London Fog that came in a really nice cup! It was once of the nicest cups of London Fog we’ve had, so it was delicious.

We also shared a bagel sandwich, and I believe this one was a Egg and Tomato Bagel which was decent. It was an odd afternoon where they weren’t expecting as much customers as they did so they were all sold out of a lot of their goodies.

Overall, this was a really nice and relaxing place to go to. Either to wind down or just for a quick bite – it’s a friendly and yummy place to be!

Strathmore Station Restaurant & Pub – Stratmore, Alberta

We still love going out to enjoy some pub food and snacks once in awhile to relax on any given afternoon. We heard great things about Stratmore Station in Stratmore and decided to give it a shot.

The decoration inside was really neat – just like out of a scene in history of a train station. Tons of old pictures lines the walls and both their dining room and the pub was huge and bright!

We didn’t order much, just had an order of their Tex Mex Platter which was huge! The 2 of us didn’t even finish it as the platter was complete with their classic nachos with cheese, onions, tomatoes and olives – seasoned with Mexican spices. Then, on top of that had some Baha Quesa Spikes and Chicken wings. The Baha Spikes was basically fried burritos stuffed with goodness!

Overall, it was a fun time here. They had lots of TV’s, friendly staff and delicious food. We had an amazing time and can see us coming back – maybe for regular sized snacks or an actual meal though! The portions are very generous!

Restaurant at the Lougheed House – Calgary, Alberta

We got some of our wedding pictures done at Lougheed House and we thought it would be fun to travel back and go through the Lougheed House as tourist, instead of a photo shoot. When we got in, we were surprised to see they have opened a restaurant here, so we decided to have a little brunch at their restaurant that was located near the back side.

Inside the dining room, it basically only fits a few tables, but it’s still very impressive as we’re inside a sandstone mansion that was built so long ago – it’s really a neat experience.

I actually knew what I wanted this time as the menu isn’t too large, it narrows my selection down. I opted to have their Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict which wasn’t bad, although pretty standard.

My husband who is always a tad more adventurous than I am ordered their Bison Meatball Hash Eggs Benedict as he loves hashbrowns, especially the shredded potato hash. This has was more mini potato pieces but was still nicely cooked. The bison meatballs were a little dry, but very flavourful. It was a neat combination and the hollandaise sauce was really well made.

Our overall experience was great. We were celebrating a special milestone in our lives and had decent food, and then we got to take a tour of this amazing historic house.

Wendy’s – Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger

I never thought about using pretzel buns in place of a hamburger bun, but it appears that Wendys Restaurants have and I got to try it when I saw the sign for it! We ordered their Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger just to try – and it was shockingly alright! It doesn’t have the actual same texture of a pretzel for the bun, but it was soft and has a nice chewy texture to the bun – giving it more substance.

I love the look of the pretzel bun as it’s got the look of what you’d expect a pretzel bun to look like. The burger is stuffed with goodness with sweet & smoky honey mustard, melted cheddar cheese and apple wood smoked bacon all on a warm, soft pretzel bun. The combination really was amazing, it wasn’t dry or boring at all!

So, if you’re looking for a burger with a twist – this might be your next go-to burger!

Wendy’s – Fresh Made Salads

I always have amazing opportunities to try new things and this time, I am at my local fast food restaurant Wendys trying their fresh-made salads. Salads I must admit is something I never order… but I figured I should and I’m glad I did. I tried their BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad in their half size (which was still a large portion). It’s quite hearty and really fresh. The BBQ Ranch dressing is a little on the saltier side, so I would advise to put some dressing in and try it – add more if needed. This amazing little salad was really filling as it was topped with fire-roasted corn, applewood smoked bacon, warm, and grilled chicken.

The other salad we got was their Taco Supermo Salad also in half size. This one, my husband really loved as he loves Wendy’s chili and tacos with salsa and sour cream. This amazing salad was a bed of fresh greens topped with their famous chili, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, chunky salsa, sour cream, yellow corn tortilla which added a nice crunch.

For people who don’t actually eat a lot of salads – especially going out and purchasing one, Wendy’s salads have never left our mind as we often talk about trying more of their salads – but we’re stuck on the Taco Supermo salad.
