Oodle Noodles – Edmonton, AB

During one of our visits to Edmonton, I had an ex-coworker to me to try Oodle Noodles as she really enjoyed it. It’s very similar to our Wok Box, which has been something I liked for the convenience, but it’s not “authentic” and it seems to be the same story here as well.

Once inside the restaurant, there’s a giant menu that you pick from and then you walk up to the cashier, put in your order and pay for it. They have an open kitchen concept so you get to watch them make your food – which is pretty exciting! I love watching my food get made!

I ordered their Special Box with chicken as it sounded most interesting to me. Its thick noodles that I love with chicken and pineapples mixed with a sweet spicy sauce. It was really good as I love sweet, with spicy in my savoury dishes!

We also ordered their Thousand Year Flavour with beef, and they make it with the thick noodles and black bean sauce with ginger and vegetables. It was pretty flavourful for sure! Not a bad place to go pick up some quick Asian style food!

Overall experience was fun, but it’s something I’m not use to doing – however tons of other people seemed to enjoy it a whole lot more than myself. I think it has something to do with me being able to make it at home. I do prefer this over a mall’s food court though! 🙂

Courtyard Edmonton Downtown – Edmonton, AB

As odd as it sounds, I really enjoy going to Edmonton as a trip – not to live, but we were there this one time and stayed at Courtyard Edmonton Downtown which was at a beautiful location where you can see the river from our room. The only weird thing about this hotel was the one-way streets that makes it a little tricky to get to the hotel.

Our room was beautiful, with a large bathroom and shower/tub, it was really quite a memorable bathroom. It felt old, but it was nice! The picture below was taken from the area beside the bath tub/shower (so it is on the left).

The actual room was gorgeous as well, and very comfortable and spacious. We had 2 queen beds

Overall, the stay was spectacular and the view was unforgettable! We enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next overnight trip to Edmonton!

Brewster’s Mountain Lodge – Banff, AB

I love getting out of the city and just going to a small town or something like that. I know Banff has become a place with more tourists so the streets and roads are super busy. I still love going there and enjoying a night just to slow down the pace we have here in the city. We stayed twice now at Brewster’s Mountain Lodge and the location is ideal! Almost at the center of the busy streets, yet a street off Banff Ave – you can walk everywhere!

Parking is limited here, but it’s the least of my concerns as we typically just park the car and then go about on feet anyway. The rooms are quite rustic decorated with wood and arrows throughout the room, it’s quite a unique experience. The hotel offers a few amenities such as a hot tub and a lounge area complete with a computer, board games and books.

The room itself is a fair size. The beds are a little worn but it’s a bed! The bedsheets and blankets are quite comfortable as you definitely get a cabin feel when you’re in this room.

The bathroom and bathroom amenities were quite nice. It’s a great hotel and like mentioned we have stayed there twice already. I’m sure we’ll be back. It’s even got complimentary breakfast! Overall, it’s a wonderful stay and I look forward to my next stay here!

Aspen Village – Waterton Park, Alberta

Waterton Park has always been a place I wanted to go and explore and we finally did! We loved it here and we stayed overnight at the Aspen Village, but in their hotel, not cabins. It was really a neat place as you’re mixed in with the wild animals.

It was an older hotel for sure as they used keys for the room and it was just an old style room. It was clean and that’s what was most important to me. We were quite tired as we started our drive here after work, so we didn’t even get into town until 9pm but we were just too excited so everything was great! Our room had 2 double beds and your basic room amenities.

The room wasn’t anything special, but it was fine for where we were as it really fit the scene. There was a TV, desk, seating area and a chair!

The bathroom seemed the most run down, but like I said, it works and it’s clean – so never any complaints there!

Overall a great experience, waking up to elks outside our door – it was quite an adventure! We’ll be back to Waterton Parks for sure!

Delta Vancouver Airport – Richmond, British Columbia

We took a road trip to Vancouver one weekend and did a booking for Richmond, BC where we stayed at Delta Vancouver Airport which was right at the Vancouver airport and just a bridge away from Richmond.

The guest room we stayed in had an adjoining room door which made it a bit noisy when the neighbors were there. It wasn’t too bad overall. The size of the room was nice and it definitely housed 2 guest really comfortably with a Queen sized bed.

The room had tons of storage area and a nice TV and desk area, as well as a little seating area.

The bathroom was a standard bathroom, but it was nice and extremely clean. I didn’t use their bathroom amenities besides their hand soap and that was quite nice – and left a beautiful fragrant!

Overall, our stay was great! The location was definitely a key point as it’s close to the highways, the airport, and Richmond – where we had family.
