Whistlers Inn – Jasper, Alberta

I made it to this hotel randomly. After learning my sister company replaced both the fireplaces in the lobby and dining area of Whistlers Inn, I thought I would just go check it out! I was so impressed with the massive fireplace that’s in their dining room! When we stayed here, there was something going on as it was completely full and constantly busy so I didn’t find the time to talk to the staff here.

The room we got was very standard and tucked away as they were trying to accommodate teams at the hotel to be together. It’s got it’s old charm and character, so it was nice!

We were able to get our little day bag in the room with spare space, so this room does work! It definitely work work if you’ve got children or anything like that! The only thing that I found tricky was the step up to the bathroom. It’s definitely a tripping hazard for me.

There really wasn’t much to the room, but it’s got all you need! It was just the 2 of us and after a day of travel with a hike and dinner, we came back to crash. The next morning, we got showered, ate, and started the journey back home. The hotel and the room did it’s job, we did ours!

It was a very pleasant stay! There isn’t a lot of parking spots on the property, but we were able to get street parking very close by! So, we lucked out there. It was a cozy and fantastic stay at the Whistlers Inn!

The Other Paw Bakery Cafe – Jasper, Alberta

I love going to Jasper. I love going there unprepared… I seem to always do that. I’d be the idiot walking around in a dress and sandals while it’s snowing. It hasn’t failed me and I guess I just won’t learn that lesson. Now with that said, I was freezing and wanted to warm up in a cafe, and we stumbled into The Other Paw Bakery and Cafe where the lineup was massive, but they move the line fast! It helped as no one was in line for ice cream!

I ordered their Latte and enjoyed it thoroughly. We sat at a table near the back where it wasn’t as busy and enjoyed our breakfast/lunch/snack there! The latte was spectacular, and the coffee flavour was really amazing!

I love pineapple and and anything Hawaiian or tropical, so I had to get their Aloha Muffin. I’m not even too sure what’s in it, and I didn’t really care. I know this muffin was super moist and soft, fresh and delicious! It was still warm! I was in love with this muffin!

What my hubby had was a Chai Tea Latte, he’s more the type that likes to change it more than I do!! Weirdly, I introduced him to Chai.. The chai here was tasty and spicy, creamy and hot! Just the way I liked it. But, I can’t have my latte and his chai. I’d be asking to stop at the side of the road every hour if so!

He decided he would eat Jalapeno Pizza Pretzel, which wasn’t surprising to me. It totally sounded like what he would order! They heated it up for him and he really enjoyed his quiet time with his order. It wasn’t over spicy or anything, this place knows how to make amazing food and drinks!

Overall, this place is amazing. I even recommended it to friends when I hear people are going to Jasper. I love this place and it’s good for any time of day. We even bought a loaf of bread on the way home and it made excellent sandwiches for lunch!

Villa Caruso Restaurant – Jasper, Alberta

I needed a nice dinner as I was dragged to an unexpected frozen canyon walk and thought I deserved a nice dinner! No, I have no logic in my mind – but any excuse to have a fancier dinner, I’ll make up some sort of excuse! We found ourselves waiting in line at Villa Caruso Restaurant but with the amount of people in line, I had high hopes.

By the time we got in, the service was quite slow but we weren’t on any time schedule at all so we had all night. We had a window seat where we watched trains go by, cars get stuck in snow, etc… so, it wasn’t a problem!

I knew I wanted seafood and I knew it was good as I was told it was good! So, I ordered their Tuna Steak which was a large piece of tuna, Cajun spiced and delious.

My hubby was super hungry and so he ordered himself a 10oz Prime Rib steak which was fork tender, full of flavour and a great cut of meat! It wasn’t fatty or dry.

Overall, we spent a long time here, but the food was worth the wait. They left us alone most the time, but we didn’t need anything either! It was a great experience overall!

Something Else – Jasper, Alberta

I have a quick day trip out to Jasper, and this time was weird as I’m know to have an awesome bladder… I really needed to go to the bathroom, so we went the first place that didn’t need me to wait! So, we went to Something Else which was a pretty big restaurant with a few table seated – so it could be either or for the restaurant.

The bathrooms were nice, just thought I’d mention that! I ordered an appetizer order of their Louisiana Shrimp Jambalaya which was pretty delicious actually!! I’m usually skeptical about ordering seafood from a place I’m unfamiliar with, and being so far from home. I’m glad I braved this one as the shrimp was amazing, and the spice level in the jambalaya wasn’t ridiculous!

We also ordered their Lunch Special and this day it was either their Lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs with a soup. We grabbed their Lasagna special and it started with a nice bowl of vegetable soup. I know I didn’t have much but it was quite flavourful and it tasted like a tomato based vegetable soup.

The Lasagna was pretty big! It had lots of pasta layers filled with tons of meat sauce and then topped and baked mozzarella cheese! It was amazing and hearty!!

Overall, the experience was better than expected. The food was great, it was kind of right off the main street. We found parking, but somehow we always find street parking!! Had I known we were going to do a hike, I probably would’ve eaten more! Always figure it out first is my lesson to you! 🙂

CafĂ© Mondo – Jasper, Alberta

We saw a great deal to stay in Jasper, so we didn’t pass it down. In the morning, we wanted a quick brunch which meant it wasn’t too busy. We walked right into Cafe Mondo and it is right on Patricia Street with street parking nearby.

My husband loves soup and we went for a late enough breakfast that they had soup! Their soup of the day was a Beef Vegetable Soup and it was really amazing hearty soup.

I ordered their Breafast Wrap and it wasn’t bad. It was a wrap with egg, tomatoes, onion and cheese with smoked salmon. This wrap is like a smoked salmon pizza on a pita bread! It tasted amazing and they were very generous with the smoked salmon.

My husband ordered their Croissant Toastie which is a ham and cheese sandwich in a croissant. It is an amazing little breakfast that is delicious! The croissant was really fresh, with a nice light and crispy exterior and a soft and buttery interior.

Overall, the brunch was delicious and it smells amazing! The food came out quick and the service was friendly! This was the perfect last stop before heading home!
