Beer Revolution – Calgary, Alberta

One evening, I wasn’t sure if I wanted beer or wings, or beer and pizza. I didn’t even end up needed to pick when I decided to go to Beer Revolution on 130th Avenue SE. This location is fun with lots of craft beers and it’s a very unique experience.

I ordered their Chicken Wing Pizza which was a delicious pizza with actual chicken wings on top. It was as amazing as it sounds. This pizza was topped with bacon, provolone, parmesan, gorgonzola and peppercorn ranch topped with hot wings. I wasn’t sure how to eat the pizza, so I pulled the wings off and ate them separately. It was delicious!

This was definitely a fun spot to go!! The experience here was truly fun and casual. The service was great, and most importantly everything tasted fantastic.

Via Cibo South Trail – Calgary, Alberta

We were looking for a quick dinner this one evening, and we remembered having Via Cibo at Deerfoot Meadows being really delicious, so we decided to head into the location on 130th Avenue SE just off Deerfoot Trail. There’s ample parking but I assume when everything is opened, the parking situation will be trickier as there’s lots of development here right now.

The way the layout is for this fast food chain is standard, but they give you a number and you pick a table and the staff will bring you your order. It’s quite organized, and although it was really new when we came here, it was speedy enough. We do love the open kitchen concept, and their system was quite amazing. The service was great both for dine in and take out.

We started with their Margherita Pizza as I wanted something simple and delicious. They definitely delivered and everything was fresh and tasty. The crust was beautifully cooked with a nice crisp and it wasn’t soggy at all.

What is more Italian than pasta, so we had an order of their Alfredo Pasta with Sausage. At first, the portions seemed really small, but as you eat it, you do fill up quickly so it worked out at the end.

We definitely enjoyed our experience here. It was a quick night out dinner and we couldn’t have asked for anything else! I’m sure we’ll be back as we’re just steps away and I can always use a bowl of pasta! The food was definiately made to order which is something we appreciate a lot, and believe it’s well worth the time and effort.

Toad n Turtle Pubhouse & Grill – Calgary, Alberta

We felt like a patio this one afternoon, and found ourselves going to Toad n Turtle on 130th Avenue SE, and there, we got seated on the “side patio” instead of their roof top patio as apparently it was closed. There’s tons of parking especially after hour when the home construction store is closed. We weren’t too happy with the side patio as it’s right next to the street and it wasn’t as pleasant as it could have been, however our experience was still great!

We ordered a few appetizers with drinks, so we started out with my Virgin Caesars which was alright here. The drink wasn’t too spicy yet it wasn’t watered down, so it was fine!

We then got an order of their Rib Bites, which were bone-in pork ribs with salt and pepper seasoning. The ribs were really good and there wasn’t a lot of them either. But, they were really nicely prepared! We were expecting dry ribs, but the sauce wasn’t bad at all!

The other appetizer that we ordered was their Coconut Prawns, and there were 8 coconut coated Tiger Prawns and it came with a delicious ginger/garlic dipping sauce.

Overall, the food and the “inside” environment was really nice. I’m sure we would have really enjoyed their rooftop patio instead of inhaling the vehicles exhaust while having a quiet afternoon. The food although was delicious, we thought the portions were a little small. The service was good, so we don’t have much to complain about!

Pho Nam Vietnamese Cuisine – Calgary, Alberta

We were seeking for something on the lighter side for dinner when we drove by Pho Nam and it was located right off of Fairmont Drive. It is basically off the intersection of Fairmont Drive and Heritage Drive, with lots of parking.

Once we sat down, we decided to have an order of their Satay Beef Roll and it’s their salad rolls with satay beef instead of shrimp! The beef was actually really delicious, making the rolls incredibly tasting!

I wasn’t feeling the greatest and really wanted “chicken noodle soup” basically, so I got their Pho Ga and the soup was really good. It tastes like they spent a good amount on time on their soup base! The noodles were quite delicious and it’s a great texture!

My husband had their Satay Beef Noodle Soup as he was feeling the opposite of me and wanted something with lots of spice and flavours!! With the same great rice noodles, this soup was another amazing soup. It’s full of flavours, spice, and sauce! It’s quite amazing!

Overall, the place was quite a surprise. The food tasted better than expectations I have set while walking through the doors judging by nothing really! So, it was nice that we were pleasantly surprised.

Kane’s Harley Diner – Calgary, Alberta

We got up really early this one morning to play a little prank on a friend. Afterwards, it was still really early and we were getting hungry, so we went to Inglewood, and went into Kane’s Harley Davidson Diner which is right on 9th Ave SE. It’s an old school looking diner from the outside, and there’s some street parking, especially if you go early.

Looking around the restaurant, it was pretty neatly decorated and I love the retro style of the place! Although bikes aren’t “my thing”, this was still an exciting place to go! They had other sorts of antiques around which made it fun for me!

I was quite hungry as mentioned, we got up early. I decided to go for their Biker Bowl which was a giant portion of hash browns topped with 2 eggs, ham, tomato, green onions, cheese and hollandaise sauce. To make the meal even bigger, it even came with toast! At first sight, it didn’t look like much, but as you keep digging into this bowl, you really notice how full you’ve become! It tasted really good and the hash browns were excellent, until the last one!

My husband ordered their Classic Fueler which was another large breakfast that consisted of 6oz of Alberta sirloin steak and 2 eggs, over hash browns. This “steak and egg” breakfast also comes with toast! The steak was well seasoned and cooked well! It was tender and flavourful, so it was perfect in our books.

Overall, the dining experience was quite a unique one! They really thought out the details from naming the dishes, to decorating the diner. The prices, that was awesome for the amount of food you get! We left here with a really full belly and we were really satisfied.
